I thought this was a thread about Pancho writing a book about WHO!

Opportunity missed there Panch.

If you decide id like to be not the main characters but the funny one everyone loves - you know just to make it realistic.

The secret war - spies codes and guerrillas 1939-45 by max hastings. A bit drier than his normal efforts but a fascinating and highly cynical look at espionage across all Theatres of operations in the war. Basically spies are all full of shit

I've still got the Penguin book of world history on the go, sounds like a kids book but it is without doubt the best book I have ever read regarding pre-history.

Also reading Bernard Cornwell's Waterloo and the new Uhtred book.

The Book of Numbers by Joshua Cohen.

Enjoyable so far, but wonder if it's too gimicky.

Gavros - I just finished Blood Meridian prior to starting this book. Thought it was well done overall, but wouldn't put it as a favorite.

I have just finished The Second World War by Antony Beevor.

Some of the details of the horrors of warfare are beyond belief such as the Japanese rearing prisoners of war for slaughter so they could eat them. This is a really great book and anybody interested in WW2 must read it.
